Description

The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of staff, patients, and essential supplies to and from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. The role requires operating well-maintained and roadworthy vehicles while adhering to all traffic regulations and hospital safety protocols. The Driver ensures that vehicles are clean, properly serviced, and ready for use, contributing to the smooth operation of the department and the institution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check vehicle daily for oil, water, brake fluid, fuel and make any other serviceable check at commencement of duty.  Document checks performed.
  • Change tires for your assigned vehicle when necessary.
  • Transport staff to and from duties daily.
  • Transport the Department’s staff as they perform their official duties offsite.
  • Wash and keep your assigned vehicle clean.
  • Report promptly any damage to vehicle while driving, or any mechanical problems experienced.
  • Complete movement log for each journey to and from SLBMC.
  • Assist in delivering or collecting packages, running quick errands as the need arises from time to time for the smooth operation of the department.
  • Any other related duties as directed by your immediate Supervisor or other designated officer. 

 

Job Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with at least four (4) years experience of driving both standard and automatic transmission vehicles (buses/pickup).
  • Must be literate and numerate and be able to communicate efficiently both orally and in writing.
  • Required to use discretion and skill while driving to avoid accidents, sudden stops or other movements which may be detrimental to the passengers, other motorist or pedestrians.
  • Be flexible to perform duties on a shift basis – 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm and 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
  • Must be properly attired and well groomed at all times.
  • Must be courteous to internal and external customers
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.

Do you possess a valid driver’s license with at least four (4) years’ experience driving both standard and automatic transmission vehicles (bus/pickup)?
Are you able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (both orally and in writing)?
Are you willing and able to work on a rotating shift system (7:00 am – 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, 11:00 pm – 7:00 am)?
Are you physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of this position?
Do you have experience maintaining vehicle logs and performing daily serviceability checks (oil, water, brake fluid, fuel, etc.)?
Are you willing to transport staff, patients, and departmental packages while maintaining courteous and professional conduct at all times?
